“The Crossing at the crossroads”

Broad Street Review published my essay “The Crossing at the crossroads”  on Monday, May 1, 2017. I wrote about the importance of National Endowment for the Arts grants for professional musicians and arts organizations, such as The Crossing, Philadelphia’s Grammy-nominated chamber choir.

  1. Difficult times – good luck with the choir. My wife has sung with the Bryn Mawr Pres choir for many years, but at least they have a congregation that values their work. Communities will have to step up and fund what they value. A friend of mine complained recently about a talented actor/writer we both know, saying the guy can’t earn a living. But when I asked how many times he went to the theater in the last year, the answer was never.
